Providing Technical Assistance to Medicaid and SCHIP Executives

Mathematica assists the Center for Health Care Strategies' Purchasing Institute in providing executive education and strategic and technical assistance for State Medicaid and Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) executives and staff. The goal is to help staff to develop, purchase, monitor, and improve managed health care services that add value for program beneficiaries and states. The Purchasing Institute also supports the preparation of technical assistance papers, issue briefs, and policy papers.

We review grant proposals, conduct site visits to grantees and prospective grantees, provide technical assistance to grantees and others, prepare papers on relevant issues, and provide consultation on program strategies. In addition, the project director serves as a member of the CHCS Managed Care Solutions Forum, which brings together states, managed care organizations, actuaries, and others to address new and emerging managed care issues.
