Taking a Stand on Tobacco Use
The dangers of smoking are well-known to most adults, and a special emphasis has been put on limiting the use of tobacco products by minors. We assessed public opinion about policy alternatives to curb minors’ access to tobacco products, and to restrict various types of advertising and promotions that may encourage minors to use tobacco. This survey was unique in its focus on national opinion about a broad range of policies designed to limit minors’ access to tobacco products. In addition, the survey obtained the public’s views on selected proposals to assist smokers who are attempting to quit and to regulate the nicotine content of tobacco products.
