Lead Data Analytics Developer

Shinu Verghese is an expert in producing and analyzing Medicaid administrative data files, and in providing programming support for health research projects. She has worked on all aspects of production system development, including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, production, quality assurance, and validation.

Verghese oversees Medicaid Analytic eXtract data and file creation for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). She has provided programming support for analyses of national and state trends in enrollment and spending, cross-state differences in the use and costs of personal care services, and physician service use and participation in Medicaid. She is also providing programming support for evaluations of the Money Follows the Person Rebalancing Demonstration Grants and Electronic Health Records Demonstration. In addition, she leads the programming effort for a summative evaluation of Oregon’s 1115 Medicaid Research and Demonstration waiver program that includes an analyses of outcomes based on Medicaid enrollment and claims data in the state.

Before joining Mathematica in 2006, Verghese held positions at the Palo Alto Medical Foundation Research Institute and the Public Health Institute of the California Department of Health Services. She has an M.S. in statistics from California State University.
