Ritchie’s work focuses on understanding and supporting healthy family relationships. Her research areas include couple relationship quality, commitment, and mechanisms of change. She conducts research on the implementation and evaluation of healthy marriage, responsible fatherhood, and sexual risk avoidance programs.

Since joining Mathematica in 2020, Ritchie has worked on a range of projects in the family support area. Currently, she is a research task lead for a study that aims to improve the implementation of healthy marriage and relationship education (HMRE) programs using rapid-cycle learning methods. She has co-authored written products (for example, briefs, literature reviews, and policy papers) and co-presented for webinars and trainings focused on research methods and recruiting strategies. Her work includes research design and both quantitative and qualitative data analysis, including descriptive and impact evaluations. Past Mathematica projects include a publication summarizing the evidence base on the effectiveness of HMRE programs for youth.

Ritchie is a licensed clinical psychologist and a certified instructor of the Prevention and Relationship Education Program. Her commitment to supporting couple and family well-being cuts across research and clinical practice, with each informing the other. As a member of the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies, she serves on the board of the Women’s Special Interest Group. She attended the University of Michigan and holds a Ph.D. in clinical psychology with an emphasis in statistics from the University of Denver.
