Evaluation of the Networks for School Improvement Initiative
Prepared for:
Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation
In 2018-19, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation launched the Networks for School Improvement initiative, a large-scale effort in nearly 800 schools to improve outcomes for middle and high school students who are Black, Latino, and experiencing poverty. The initiative was designed to support networks of schools to engage in continuous improvement. Although the early years of the initiative coincided with the COVID-19 pandemic, interim results indicate that the networks and schools engaged in many of the intended activities, and there is evidence of modest impacts on some student outcomes, but not others. A final evaluation report that covers additional years of implementation will be issued in two years.
