Explore PartnershipAngela Merrill has expertise in Medicare quality-of-care measures and reporting. In addition, she has studied enrollment and disenrollment in public insurance programs, including Medicare Advantage, Medicaid, and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP). She specializes in using diverse administrative data sources for research purposes.
Merrill directed a project for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) that produces risk adjusted hospital mortality and readmission rates, hospital-acquired condition measures, and hospital feedback reports on these measures, for public reporting on the Medicare Hospital Compare website. She also works on a CMS project developing resource use reports for Medicare physicians, and directs a project providing reports and analytic services for Medicare's Physician Quality Reporting System and the Electronic Prescribing Incentive programs. In addition, she leads the quality of care measures task for hospitals and physician clinics for a Minnesota Provider Peer Grouping initiative project.
Merrill has most recently published her work in Circulation: Cardiovascular Quality and Outcomes, American Journal of Preventive Medicine, and the Journal of Hospital Medicine. She holds a Ph.D. in health services and policy analysis and an M.A. in economics from the University of California at Berkeley.
