Mark Flick

Senior Director, Data Science and Analytics

Mark Flick is a senior director with extensive experience leading the development of data science and analytics solutions for state and federal health agencies to support program technical assistance, monitoring, and evaluation. This includes implementing systems and processes to securely acquire, ingest, store, analyze, and visualize health care data to guide and improve decision making in public programs.

Flick has directed data operations on multiple large and complex projects. As the solutions lead on the Children and Youth Behavioral Health Initiative Evaluation Consulting Services contract for the state of California, he established the analytic platform and dashboard solution to support technical assistance through a Results-Based Accountability framework. Before that, he was the systems director on the Evaluation of the Primary Care First Model and the Health Care Innovation Awards Round 2 projects for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, where he directed the development of analytic systems to efficiently process and analyze Medicare and Medicaid health records for millions of beneficiaries across dozens of interventions.

Before joining Mathematica in 2009, Flick supported pharmacoeconomic and comparative effectiveness analyses of drug therapies at Global Health Economics and Outcomes Research. He is passionate about volunteering, which he has done regularly since high school, and currently helps coordinate Mathematica’s support of HomeFront.

Flick holds bachelor’s degrees in political science and economics from Kenyon College, and an M.S. in statistics from Texas A&M University.
