Tomi Ogunwumiju has a deep understanding of the technical and operational dimensions of Medicaid data, helping state and federal clients enhance data quality and use data to strengthen their programs and reform delivery systems.

Since joining Mathematica in 2015, Ogunwumiju has assisted the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), particularly the Center for Medicaid and CHIP (Children’s Health Insurance Program) Services and its Data Systems Group, in implementing and improving Transformed Medicaid Statistical Information System (T‑MSIS) and its predecessor, MSIS. She leads Mathematica’s team supporting CMS in enhancing T‑MSIS data quality, overseeing the development and implementation of data quality measures, maintenance of state data quality reports, creation of reporting guidance, and facilitation of national webinars. In this role, she also supports T‑MSIS data users and stakeholders by providing insights into the complexities of T‑MSIS data and the difficulties states face with reporting.

Beyond T‑MSIS, Ogunwumiju has contributed to projects such as the CMS Innovation Center’s models, the Comprehensive Primary Care Initiative and Comprehensive Primary Care Plus, and the Medicaid Managed Care Enrollment Report. She holds a master of science in public health from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
