This resource summarizes how Nutrition Access LA (NALA) secured new funding for critical food access and nutrition programs. Co-chaired by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health (LA DPH) and the LA Food Policy Council (LAFPC), NALA is a cross-sector coalition that brings together governmental agencies, community-based organizations, school districts, advocacy groups, and others to increase access to nutritious and affordable food. After cuts to the federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program - Education (SNAP-Ed) program threatened NALA’s work, LA DPH and LAFPC engaged NALA members to highlight nutrition as a community priority and secure $9 million to continue healthy food access programs for justice-impacted and high-need communities across the county.
