Project Overview

Objective

Manage a Statewide Coordinating Center for Community, Partner, and Coalition Engagement, which provides technical assistance, training, and resources to strengthen local coalitions focused on healthy eating and physical activity

California Department of Public Health, Nutrition and Physical Activity Branch

Through the Statewide Coordinating Center, Mathematica and the California Department of Public Health helped local coalitions across the state build their capacity to improve healthy eating and physical activity in their communities.  
The project included (1) an assessment to shed light on coalition needs; (2) one-on-one technical assistance to support coalitions with strategic planning and governance; (3) a peer-led community of practice to help coalitions plan for long-term sustainability; (4) an online peer-sharing platform for coalitions to connect and share tips; and (5) the development of tools to support coalition building, strategic planning, governance, evaluation, and long-term sustainability (including over 30 written resources, tip sheets, and case studies; five short videos; and four self-paced learning modules).
