Swetha Sridharan

Principal Researcher

Swetha Sridharan has expertise in designing and implementing monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) activities that facilitate data-driven decision-making by philanthropic organizations. She has led evaluations and MEL tasks in the reproductive health, maternal and child health, and secondary education areas.

Sridharan is conducting qualitative summative evaluations and rapid assessments of adolescent sexual and reproductive health programs in sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia. She also leads strategic learning efforts that synthesize achievements and challenges across these programs and draw out key lessons and implications for the funder. For a large health systems strengthening initiative, she is conducting case studies to assess the relevance, effectiveness, efficiency, and sustainability of core grant activities. She has also helped develop and implement diverse MEL activities for a collaborative of several foundations that seeks to strengthen secondary education in the Democratic Republic of Congo, India, Kenya, Malawi, Nigeria, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Uganda. Sridharan played a key role in the evaluation of a maternal and child health program in India. She led an implementation study, designed a study on scale-up and systems change, and oversaw data collection and engaged in analysis and reporting for a large comparison group study and two rigorous evaluations.

Before joining Mathematica, Sridharan worked for the Council on Foreign Relations. She has a master’s degree in international development from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University and has published in Migration Information Source and other outlets.
