Today, Mathematica kicked off a year-long celebration of its 50th anniversary. To recognize this important milestone, the company launched new, interactive web content that highlights its rich history and its bright future. A new landing page serves as a gateway to a timeline of moments and memorable projects that have shaped Mathematica; a decade-by-decade look at just a few of the Facts and Findings that have made a lasting impact on policy and programs; and reflections on the company’s history from former and current Mathematica employees and partners.

Established in 1968 to conduct the first large-scale experimental social research project in the United States, for the past 50 years Mathematica has used the best available science and tools to help our partners answer the most challenging policy questions.

“Our history, like our work, shouldn’t sit on a shelf. It helps define who we are as a company and how we work for our clients,” said President and CEO Paul Decker. “We’re excited to use our 50th anniversary as a chance to celebrate our history, but also to share how that history drives us to develop new methods, explore emerging fields, and apply new technologies in ways our early employees could barely have imagined.”

Throughout 2018, Mathematica will be releasing additional content and holding commemorative events to celebrate key milestones and innovative new approaches that help use the power of high-quality, objective data and analysis to make a difference in people’s lives.

Others are encouraged to join the conversation on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram by using #MathPol50 to share favorite Mathematica memories or findings, and discuss how data and analysis can make a difference in the next 50 years.
