Explore PartnershipJohn Schurrer is a health researcher with expertise in quality and resource use measurement, propensity-score matching, value-based modifiers, and adapting third-party measure specifications for use with Medicare and Medicaid claims data.
Schurrer joined Mathematica in 2009. His research has focused primarily on measure implementation and physician feedback projects. His work includes the development of resource use reports for Medicare fee-for-service claims. He is currently a task leader for a Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services project to develop Medicare physician fee schedule payment modifiers and the continued production of confidential physician feedback reports. These include information that is fair, actionable, and meaningful to encourage practice improvement. He is also working on developing utilization measures for the Money Follows the Person Project and is a task leader for evaluation design and implementation services for the Tanzania Energy Sector Project.
Schurrer holds an M.P.P. with emphasis on quantitative methods and an M.A. in Asian Studies: China, from the University of Michigan.
