Josefina (Josie) Gemignani specializes in collecting and analyzing quantitative and qualitative data, particularly for programs and policies tailored toward marginalized families and communities.

Gemignani is a research analyst in the Research and Evaluation Department within the Children, Youth, and Families Division at Mathematica. She is passionate about using research practices to encourage equity and prosperity among historically disadvantaged individuals and communities.

Gemignani earned a B.A. in psychology from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities. Upon graduation, Gemignani worked as a child welfare case manager in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where she supported and monitored the safety and well-being of children involved in the child welfare system. In May 2021, Gemignani received a master’s degree in social work from the Jane Addams College of Social Work at the University of Illinois Chicago, where she specialized in organization and community practice. During her graduate studies, she worked as a research intern for both the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services and Rush University Medical Center.
