Resilience in the Face of the COVID-19 Pandemic: Lessons Learned from the Boston Children’s Collaboration for Community Health

- Key challenges identified by funded partners include: increased participant needs, reduced staff capacity, lack of physical spaces and requirements to identify alternate modes of services delivery, and requirements for new equipments and processes.
- Funded partners pivoted to respond to urgent participant needs, such as food, housing, financial resources, and self-care resources; they also continued existing programing using innovative virtual programming and other engagement methods that limited contact.
- Despite unprecedented challenges, funded partners identified unanticipated opportunities.
The Boston Children’s Collaboration for Community Health aims to dismantle systemic barriers to children and families’ health and wellbeing, especially in communities experiencing social and economic inequities. The COVID-19 pandemic has disproportionately impacted the communities served by the Collaboration. Despite unprecedented challenges for funded partners and participants, funded partners (community-based organizations, academic institutions, public agencies) have identified innovative solutions to continue making progress towards their goals.
