Five local grantees received funding in 2018 through Early Milestones Colorado’s Transforming the Early Childhood Workforce Initiative to launch innovations that tackle ways to build a qualified early childhood workforce. Over the course of a year, grantees made progress toward their goals for recruiting new entrants into the field, supporting education and career pathways for early childhood staff, and enhancing working conditions that support the early childhood workforce. The grantee’s experience also shed light on policy and system changes that could better support entry into and participation in the early childhood workforce in Colorado. Mathematica provided support to grantees in gathering and using information to iteratively improve the development, implementation, and scale-up of their innovations.
