Betsy Santos has extensive experience collecting qualitative and quantitative data from a wide range of populations. She has managed all aspects of small- to large-scale data collection efforts including designing and testing survey instruments and interview guides, creating packages for review under the Paperwork Reduction Act and institutional review boards, data cleaning, and monitoring response rates of ongoing data collections.

Since joining Mathematica in 2000, Santos has worked on a range of projects in early childhood, nutrition, and labor. Currently, she is the survey director for an evaluation of pre- and post-release job-driven employment services funded by the Pathway Home Grant Program for justice-involved individuals. She is also a principal investigator for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency Program Analysis, Evaluation, and Learning Agenda Services contract.

As a first-generation child of immigrant parents, Santos is passionate about improving the lives of disadvantaged populations. She holds an M.A. in sociology with a concentration in crime and justice studies from William Paterson University.
