Francesca Venezia specializes in qualitative methods and analysis, including interviews, focus groups, and document reviews. She primarily focuses on research and technical assistance in the K–16 education and language access sectors. She has expertise on multilingual learners/speakers of English as second language.

Venezia currently serves as the deputy project director for the Gates Foundations’ Bright Spots Writing Grantee Evaluation Technical Assistance project, where in addition to project management, she led the qualitative analysis of interviews for a quasi-experimental design study and evaluation technical assistance for a grantee developing a new argumentative writing curriculum for students in grades 6 to 9. She also led formative learning cycles, including conducting and analyzing interviews and drafting memos, to inform Lumina Foundation’s continuous learning on the Partnerships for Adult Learner Success Initiative. Additionally, Venezia leads qualitative data collection and analysis on the Serving Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Applicants and Participants with Limited English Proficiency project, including pre-testing instruments in Spanish.

Venezia joined Mathematica in 2021. She holds a Ph.D. in linguistics with a concentration in applied linguistics from Georgetown University.
