Myley Laurent specializes in applied research, evaluation, technical assistance and evidence review across education, human services, family support, and STEM.
She works with public agencies, foundations, and other partners to strengthen programs and improve service delivery.
Laurent has led and contributed to projects for the California Department of Social Services (CDSS), the National Science Foundation (NSF), the Institute of Education Sciences, the Administration for Children and Families, the Children’s Bureau, and other clients. She serves as a project director for work with the CDSS, where she oversees continuous quality improvement, stakeholder engagement, and program improvement efforts on the California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids (CalWORKs) program. She also directed the NSF ADVANCE program, which examined institutional transformation and cultural change in higher education. In addition, Laurent has served as analysis lead and data archiving lead for the Head Start Family and Child Experiences Survey, led social-emotional learning studies, and conducted What Works Clearinghouse reviews.
Laurent brings expertise in study design, survey research, data analysis, technical assistance, and evidence standards, including randomized and quasi-experimental designs, latent class analysis, and mixed-methods evaluation. She holds a Ph.D. in education from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and a B.S. in applied mathematics from the University of California, Los Angeles.
