Mathematica Welcomes New Officers

Mathematica’s board of directors has approved a new slate of company officers.


Jennifer de Vallance
, Vice President and Director of Public Affairs

Jennifer de VallanceJennifer joined Mathematica in 2011 after a decade at the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy, where she served as press secretary and deputy chief of staff. She has held a variety of policy and public affairs roles in local, state, and national government, including the City of Phoenix and the National League of Cities. She holds an MA in public communications from American University.


Andrea DiGregorio, Vice President and Director of Accounting Operations

Andrea DiGregoriaoAndrea joined Mathematica in 2016 as the controller. Previously, she was the controller for Lockheed Martin’s Space Systems Company’s GPSIII constellation of satellites, a multi-billion dollar program with the United States Air Force. She also served as controller at two Stepan Manufacturing plants in New Jersey. Andrea holds an MBA in finance, and is certified in project management and cost accounting.


Matt Gillingham, Vice President and Director of Health Technology

Matt has served in many roles at Mathematica since joining the firm in 2003, including director of health technology and director of research systems and programming. His book on SAS Programming with Administrative Medicare Data continues to be widely read and cited by his peers. He holds an MA in economic theory from American University.



Nancy Murray, Vice President and Director of the International Business Unit

Nancy MurrayNancy joined Mathematica in 2007 and has held a number of leadership roles in the international arena, most recently as deputy director and then director of the international business unit. She has also led evaluations of international health and education programs in Latin America, the Caribbean, and Africa. Before joining Mathematica, she was the deputy director for the Center for Health Solutions at Futures Group International She holds a Ph.D. in population dynamics from the Johns Hopkins University.


Timothy Novak, Vice President and Director of Project Management

Tim NovakTim joined Mathematica in 1994 and has served in a variety of systems and management roles, most recently as director of human services research systems. Over the course of his career, he developed and supervised programmer, coordination, and logistics staff.  He holds an MBA in economics from Temple University and MS in education policy from the University of Pennsylvania.


Matt Stagner, Vice President and Director of Human Services State and Local Business Development

Matthew StagnerMatt joined Mathematica in 2013 and has served as the Chicago office director, director in human services, and director of child welfare business development.  He previously held leadership roles at the University of Chicago, the Urban Institute, and the Division of Children and Youth Policy at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. He holds a Ph.D. from the Irving B. Harris School of Public Policy Studies, University of Chicago, and a master’s in public policy from Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government.


Erin Taylor, Vice President and Managing Director for Health Policy Assessment 

Erin Taylor FriesErin joined Mathematica in 2003 as a health researcher and subsequently served on the health research management team, most recently as managing director for health policy assessment. She previously held research positions at the University of Michigan, Henry Ford Health System, Triangle Economic Research, and Research Triangle Institute. She holds a Ph.D. in health services organization and policy from the University of Michigan’s School of Public Health and a master’s in public policy from Michigan’s Ford School of Public Policy.
